The 5000 Porter Road Site consists of more than 60 acres of vacant land zoned for heavy industry. Previously owned by the New York Power Authority, it is now owned by the City of Niagara Falls.

The location at 5000 Porter Road was the site of the New Road Landfill and represented a recognized environmental condition. During the 1950s, it was utilized by the City of Niagara Falls as a dump for non-combustibles and incinerator refuse.

Additionally, from 1958 to 1962, the Power Authority of the State of New York (PASNY) apparently used the site for the disposal of rock spoils and clean fill from power project excavations. It was unclear whether any contaminated materials had found their way to the site during this period.

The ownership of the site was then transferred back to the City of Niagara Falls in 2015. Today, 5000 Porter Road is ready to remediated via the Brownfield program, paving the way to new opportunities and development
